Garry Dyer

Asset Contract & Technical Officer
Synergy

Garry Dyer is an Asset Contract & Technical Officer at Synergy, responsible for the technical and contractual management of the Collie Battery Energy Storage System (CBESS). He previously supported the transition of the Kwinana Battery Energy Storage System Stage 2 (KBESS2) through its final stages of commissioning and delivery into operations.

With more than 20 years of experience in the power generation industry, he has worked across gas turbine, thermal generation and utility-scale energy storage assets. Prior to joining Synergy’s battery portfolio, Garry held the role of Gas Turbine Technologist, leading plant operations, maintenance and outage activities on Siemens V94.2 gas turbines and Caterpillar generation assets. He also specialised in generator excitation systems, supporting the operation, maintenance, commissioning and troubleshooting of excitation equipment across both gas and steam turbine generation facilities.

Drawing on extensive experience across thermal generation, excitation systems, gas turbine technologies and modern inverter-based resources, Garry brings a unique perspective that bridges traditional synchronous generation and emerging battery energy storage systems.

His areas of expertise include power system integration, inverter technologies, asset performance and contract management, with a particular focus on supporting the reliable integration of battery storage into Western Australia’s evolving energy system.
