Shane Quinnell is the Founder and Director of Essence Renewables, an independent advisory business supporting the development and delivery of large-scale renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects across Australia. With 15 years’ experience in the sector, Shane has worked across wind, solar and BESS, spanning project origination, development, commercial strategy, stakeholder management and financial close. Shane has a strong track record of progressing complex projects through development and investment decisions, including the delivery of the 222MW/640MWh Woolooga BESS to Financial Close and the development of major solar, wind and hybrid projects. Previously, as Head of Development (NSW & QLD) at WestWind Energy, he led development portfolios across planning, grid, land and project execution, following earlier experience with Lightsource bp where he helped scale a Queensland development portfolio from around 200MW to more than 2GW. Through Essence Renewables, Shane provides strategic and commercial advice to developers, investors and project owners, helping navigate development risk, commercial decisions and the practical challenges of getting major energy infrastructure built.
