Nick Morley is the APAC Technical Lead for Eku Energy. He has over 15 years’ experience in renewable energy systems and has worked in product testing and certification, technical consulting and sales, and utility scale solar, wind and BESS project development, construction, grid connection and operations across Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia.
In a prior role at First Solar Nick was a key contributor in the commissioning and GPS testing of Nyngan and Broken Hill Solar Farms – two of the first utility-scale solar projects in the NEM. As a Project Development Engineer he managed technical support during development, construction, and commissioning of the Manildra and Beryl Solar Farms, as well as development and grid connection offer of the Wellington Solar Farm, and several other early-stage assets in First Solar’s portfolio. The Beryl Solar Farm is notable for being one of the fastest projects in the NEM to progress from energisation to full output under the Hold Point testing process. Subsequently, Nick went on to lead the GPS Compliance testing of Cattle Hill Wind Farm for Goldwind, and then at Hanwha was directly responsible for development, engineering, and EPC contracting on their two hybrid solar-BESS projects Gregadoo and Jindera.
At Eku Energy Nick is responsible for overseeing the engineering of the BESS project portfolio development and delivery in the APAC region, and with the support of local Eku team members manages the technical interfaces with equipment OEMs, contractors, grid operators, and other key project stakeholders. To-date at Eku, Nick has supported ongoing operations of Hazelwood BESS, Rangebank BESS, the construction of Williamsdale BESS as well as the development of Griffith BESS, Byellee BESS, Belah BESS, Tramway Road BESS, Wongalea BESS and more in Australia and projects in Germany and the UK.
He has a Bachelor of Engineering in Renewable Energy from the University of New South Wales.
